Student Scholarship & Ghorban Funds

June, 2007

Dear Friends :

SUA is a non-profit organization with a tax exemption status registered with the United States Internal Revenue Services (IRS).

According to the SUA Bylaws, the SUA mission is to support Shiraz University in achieve its educational goals. Among the important goals are giving scholarships to support the students in their living expenses and research or finance academic activities such as seminars and work shops.

The SUA Ghorban Fund has been established to honor the memory of Dr. Ghorban, the Founder of Shiraz University. A number of his former students and friends have already contributed to this Fund and I believe that others will also contribute in order to help the university and keep the legacy of this great man alive.

The SUA Student Scholarship Fund has been established for the support of students based on his/her need and their academic standing. A number of us have already pledged to give one or two scholarships to the students and/or support their research.

We hope that you will do the same and contribute to one or both funds a sum that you feel comfortable to donate for this worthy cause. You can specify in the forms, any particular program(s) that you want to support through this donation.

However, the SUA recommends the sum of $1000 to partially support a student for 4 years. You can support the students in the field or department of your choice and name the scholarship after your beloved ones.

The students will be selected by the department based on their needs and academic records, reviewed by Shiraz University Alumni Association (SUAA) and finally by the SUA and the donor. Once, this process is completed, the funds will be disbursed via SUA to the selected student and the support will continue for the full duration of the scholarship, if the student meets the academic standards set by the department or college.

Please fill out the accompanying form along with your check (payable to SUA) and send them to the SUA Treasurer, Dr. Khosrow Nasr. An official receipt for your contribution will be mailed to you by Dr. Nasr for your tax return use.

Respectfully,

Mohammad Behforouz, Ph.D.
SUA Board Presiden
