Dear SUA Members :
The SUA Scholarship and Research Committee would like to ask each of you, if possible, to give a scholarship (s) to qualified and needy students of Shiraz University (SU) or Shiraz University of Medical Sciences (SUMS). Also, if you wish you could support Students’ Research Programs. As the SUA is now a registered nonprofit corporation and our members now qualify for tax exemption for such donations.
For the sake of transparency, you can specifically designate the department, field or the research program you wish to support. SUA is establishing a mechanism by which the qualified student or the specific research project of your choice will be selected by the department and then approved by the SUAA, SUA and yourself. Once the student or the program is identified, the name will be given to you so that you can send your money to the SUA Treasurer for that purpose. You will get an official receipt for your donation for tax deduction purposes.
Five of us from the SUA Board have already committed to support students or research programs in Shiraz. If you wish to support, please contact me.
I should also mention that in memory of the late Dr. Ghorban, the founder of Shiraz University, a number of his students/or friends have established the Ghorban Fund. This Fund will be managed by a Board of Trustees within the SUA and the proceeds will be used for the support of academic endeavors of faculty, students including exchange programs. If you wish to contribute to this Fund, please contact Dr. Khosrow Nasr.
I would like to emphasize that these are very easy and effective ways to give your support if you can. We have many bright students who need your attention and you can make a significant difference in their academic lives.
Respectfully,
Mohammad Behforouz, Ph.D.
SUA Board Presiden
