For over 25 years, Professor Montaser has played a leading role in the development of ICP-based techniques for the quantitative determination of the elemental composition of materials. His research addresses problems in diverse fields such as the semiconductor industry, energy generation, material science, forensic chemistry, environmental pollution, nutrition, biomedical, and pharmacology. Professor Montaser is the author of over 170 peer-reviewed articles, reviews, books, and book chapters. He has presented over 270 papers in national and international conferences. He is highly sought after as an invited/plenary speaker in major international conferences. Indeed, during 2003/2004 he was the invited lecturer or Keynote Speaker at 20 major meetings worldwide. During the 1985-2004 period, approximately 20 of his graduate students have received several major national and international awards for their research. Professor Montaser has served as a program director in the NSF Division of Material Research for 7 years and he has been serving o the Editorial Board of several journals. Professor Montaser is a native of Isfahan, Iran and graduated from Pahlavi (now Shiraz ) University with a B.S. degree with honors in Chemistry in 1969. In 1974 he received his Ph.D. degree from Michigan State University followed by a post-doctoral fellowship at Iowa State University. From 1975 to 1979 he taught as an assistant professor at Aryamehr (now Sharif) University, Iran.
