Member of board of director of SUA gathered at 5:10pm on Thursday Nov 23 2006 at Hampton Inn Tropicana Las Vegas- Nevada for annual board meeting.
Dr. Behforouz introduced Mr. Reza Rahnama from the executive board of Shiraz [University] Alumni Association who has come from Shiraz +welcomed him to United State for the conference meeting of SUA.
Members present in meeting: K. Attaran, K. Nasr, M. Behforouz, M. Khatamee, A. Ajami, Hossain Ronaghy, R. Rahnama, Hassan Ronaghy and M. Abedi.
Hassan Ronaghy talked about a letter from chancellor of Shiraz University about the cooperation between the university and graduates of this university in US. Detailed discussion were made, impediment about financial involvement was discussed. The decision was made unanimously to respond to the letter about scholars exchange between US and Iran graduates.
Mr. Rahnama also discussed about possible cooperation at scientific level. It was decided that the new board would address means of these scientific cooperation.
Dr. Attaran discussed about IRS tax exemption status, he mentioned about the need to initiate the scientific lectures such as next few days and to have tax exemption status and making every decision, based on IRS requirement. He further discussed presently SUA is in RED, we are counting on contribution from members he suggest approaching Iranian business for financial support.
Dr. Behforouz mentioned that at the present time the useful and legal activities should include the support of students who come from Iran and not familiar with US laws who need both spiritual and financial support.
Dr. Nasr proposed since Dr. Ghorban – the founder of Shiraz University has passed away a separate fund to be created under Ghorban Foundation to be an independent subsidiary of Shiraz University. This fund to be directed under committee with following individuals:
Nasr, Attaran, Mehr, Javid Kambiz and Nersy Ghorban, Haghighi, Moshirpoor, Khatamee and Ronaghy + officers of SUA. After the fund created the committee will approve all allocation of Nasr/Attaran will sign funds and the Checks. Hossain Ronaghy seconds it. It was unanimously approved. Dr. Behforouz discussed.
Regarding the website of SUA: despite lots of financial and technical difficulties it has been funding well.
Dr. Abedi complained that there is not enough activities. Dr. Ajami responded most of the basic elements of SUA have been achieved and hopefully we can even achieve more.
Dr. Khatamee mentioned about 50 th year of Shiraz University foundation in Shiraz time for next gathering. Dr. Khatamee planning to go to Iran in Dec, He will attend and coordinate the next Shiraz meeting with Fertility congress in Tehran Iran.
