Board Meeting, Summary of Discussion
Khosrow Nasr summarized the accomplishment of the association since its inception in San Diego.
The bylaws of the association have been written and approved by board. Each attendee at meeting was given copy of bylaws.
Website created in name of “ www.shirazuniversity.org”.
Conference/Reunion in Shiraz in association with the Iran alumni meeting. Over 600 attended, 30 from US. In talks with university administration, they were very receptive of any help made available from alumni abroad. More specifically, they were to have us participation in teaching and research, as well as in graduate education.
The shiraz alumni association in Iran is well organized and would like to build a structure in Shiraz. An alumni house, built on land given them by university. They would like alumni board to participate in this activity.
The afternoon meeting had recommendation which included:
A more active website.
Committees to divide tasks, such as membership.
Teaching programs in Shiraz by those already traveling.
Facilitated by alumni association.
Website availability of advising and helping those in Shiraz wishing scientific information, articles or searching for counterparts for research.
The overall impression was that the attendees wished for a more active alumni association directed toward helping Shiraz as needed while semantic relations of alumni in US and Canada.
It was felt that the next alumni meeting could be in Shiraz in 2005 in association with the shiraz alumni in Iran and the 2006 in Canada.
