GOALS OF THE SHIRAZ UNIVERSITY ASSOCIATION

Goal: to create a worldwide association representing faculty and graduates of the shiraz university, with the purpose of enhancing academic and professional contact among the members and cooperating with other Iranian university associations in areas of mutual interest.

In calling for the establishment of the Shiraz University Association we would like to respond to two specific responsibilities:

1. The responsibility to the educational institutions in Iran: All of us who were educated and/or served as faculty members in the Iranian universities have the responsibility to help these institutions advance the cause of higher education for the next generations of Iranians. We believe that an organization representing the graduates and the faculties of the Iranian universities could effectively help achieve this goal.

2. The responsibility to the Iranian-American Community: The Iranian-American Community faces many challenges as it attempts to establish itself in this multicultural society. The educated members of our community have the responsibility to help create and support organizations that speak for our aspirations, and advance our rights as residents/citizens in this society. We believe that organizations representing the graduates and faculties of Iranian universities could play important roles in advancing this goal.

We look forward to a productive dialogue with you about the goals of this organization as well as other relevant issues in our meeting in San Diego.
